Just Begin Writing

Just Begin writing. Being somewhat a perfectionist, and by that I mean wanting to do things right and without "too many attempts" beginning our ministry blog is both exciting and a little scary. Let me start with a short introduction as to how this dream began and I hope over time we will become friends and a source of encouragement.

John and I exchanged our wedding vows and began our covenant marriage on July 7, 2012. We shared our ceremony with a small group of friends and immediate family. We were married at sunset on a hot day in July on the family ranch in Texas. It was the beginning of an adventure that we love to tell. We have both been married before so this is our second attempt, definitely not the best part of our story but our God is a redeemer and He has been walking along side us every step of the way; and our pasts have allowed us some experiences that make our story unique. We have 6 children, I have 4 from my previous marriage and John has 2. You will meet them through our story as we get to know each other.

One of our greatest strengths is our commitment to pray EVERY day together. We began this habit early on in our dating. The prayer of Jabez, I Chronicles 4:10, has been a huge part of our prayer life. John was introduced to the prayer by a pastor at church one night in 2011. He began praying the prayer and then gifted me a book, Prayer of Jabez, by Bruce Wilkinson. Over the years we modeled some of our prayer requests from this book, asking God to enlarge our territory. We often invite and encourage other couples to pray this same prayer, and just like Jabez, our prayers have been answered. E.D.G.E. (Every Day God Experience) ministries is an answer to that prayer.

Thank you for letting us speak into your life through this blog. We have asked ourselves some questions……Why? Who? When?  The why is because we feel a real desire to share our stories with others to strengthen marriages. The who is anyone God puts in our path. The when is now.  We believe that our story, our history, is "His" story. We invite you to come along and stay as long as you like as part of our community. We facilitate small week-end experiences with a limited number of couples several times a year. I am typing as the rain falls outside our sunroom, it is dark outside and late in the evening. I'll send this blog off to you in hopes that it stimulates something in your heart that will draw you closer to Jesus. Look up the prayer, invite your spouse to pray with you, write in your journal, read your Bible. Join in. I'd love to hear your thoughts.
